The Chestnut-backed Chickadee normally builds a nest consisting of moss and feathers, fur, insect cocoons, plant down, or cottony fibers. This nest in a box that was hung in a Redwood tree was build using shreded Redwood bark in place of moss. The chickadees hide their eggs under fur before incubating.
